Food Systems Development
Resource Brochure & List
Explore resources in this online list by five main theme areas related to food systems development and climate change adaptation - (1) Networking/Information Sharing, (2) Policy/Strategy, (3) Research, (4) Funding, and (5) Training. These resources highlight specific assets related to planning for local and/or traditional food systems development in order to support practitioners and communities in strengthening local action and further partnerships in the territory. The food systems resources compiled herein were chosen based on their relevance to climate change adaptation, both from a preventative (targeting a systems vulnerability to climate change in an attempt to prevent negative impacts) or mitigative (targeting a systems ability to reduce greenhouse gases) standpoint.
Climate Change & Food Systems Assets in the north
This graphic summary report helps to characterize the state of food systems and climate change in the North as of 2018. For a full understanding of the state of food systems and climate change in the Yukon, read the Mapping Yukon Climate Change and Food Systems Assets Summary Report which describes the type of initiatives, services and entities in the Yukon and where further development is needed.
Gardening Resources
Since 2014, the Arctic Institute of Community-Based Research has hosted four annual community gardener gatherings in Whitehorse, YT. These gatherings are an opportunity for community garden members from across the Yukon gathered to meet, learn from each other, and to hear presenters on topics ranging from growing and management techniques, to weather patterns and compost handling issues. Read the reports from each gathering and explore handouts for gardening resources.
