The following list of resources is organized according to five main theme areas - (1) Networking/Information Sharing, (2) Policy/Strategy, (3) Research, (4) Funding, and (5) Training. These resources were obtained from the Yukon Food System and Climate Change inventories and are compiled to highlight specific assets related to planning for local and/or traditional food systems development, in order to support practitioners and communities in strengthening local action and further partnerships in the territory. The food systems resources compiled herein were chosen based on their relevance to climate change adaptation, both from a preventative (targeting a systems vulnerability to climate change in an attempt to prevent negative impacts) or mitigative (targeting a systems ability to reduce greenhouse gases) standpoint.

Description of themes:

  • Networking/Information Sharing - includes spaces targeted at food producers, community gardeners and traditional harvesters, governments and civil society partners with the goal of sharing information or networking

  • Policy/Strategy - includes specific policies or strategy documents as well as documents that are intended to inform policy or community strategy

  • Research - includes the gathering of new and existing knowledge to better understand food systems and climate change’s effects on food systems

  • Funding - includes financial programs (grants, subsidies, etc.) targeted at funding food system related projects

  • Training - includes assets which involve a training or educational aspect targeted towards practitioners running or developing food systems programs or local/traditional initiatives/entities

Note: Number in brackets below indicates how many resources are attributable to that theme. Assets may show up under multiple themes if they have crosscutting activities which apply. To read more, click on the title of the asset.
